
“You’re not the boss of me!” Who hasn’t heard a rebellious child utter those words? Perhaps, YOU uttered those words. Yet, somewhere along the journey many people switch to opinion seeking people pleaser. I’ve come to learn that confusion creates insecurity. When convicted, there is no need to ask others. A true decision eliminates the need to poll co-workers, family, and friends.

For too many decades I relied on the opinion of others to determine my choices. I have come to realize that the best intentioned will have their own experiences including failures, shortcomings, and fears. Some well-meaning advisors have agendas they are unaware of as well. At one point in my life, I thought I wanted to surround myself with “yes” men. “Yes” men didn’t cause me to grow.
